Beginning and intermediate levels offered!
Level 1 - Beginning: at least one year experience

 *Students will...

  • learn new techniques and how they fit within the music to create a unique sound
  • learn to mark and follow their music and a conductor
  • become more comfortable with note reading fluency in following a longer work of music
  • become better at listening to other instruments as they play their own parts (ensemble skills)
  • Have a BLAST learning to play music that is inspiring and fun
  • Play with a full orchestra on stage

This group is generally recommended for students just completing 6th grade orchestra, or have had at least one year of private lessons (where the teacher has used a method book).
Compare Suzuki Bk 1 and 2

Students in this group will learn more how to watch and follow a conductor and how to understand and mark their music.  This year we will teach staccato, accents, and how to play flats with the 1st and 4th finger.  The music will be performed with the full orchestra, however, the music for this group will be simplified for them to be able to play it. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

There will be additional helpers at the camp to walk around and help any students on an individual basis who need extra help marking and learning their music.  If you know that your student will need extra help, please inform us on the registration form in the comment box so we can be sure to have enough helpers.

Level 2 - Intermediate to advanced

*Students will...

  • choose between two levels of music for each piece
  • work with a section coach and conductor
  • learn more fluent ensemble skills
  • learn techniques specific to the selected pieces and how the music can reach the heart of the audience
  • play and perhaps learn new bowing techniques with tricky note combinations
  • have the opportunity to choose a more advanced level of the music involving shifting and multiple note slurring (fast!)
  • meet and hear from two local composers who will be performing with them at the concert

This group is generally recommended for students who have participated in group orchestra for two or more years OR are  proficient in note reading on their instrument and have participated in other group performances with a conductor (ie: choir).

This year Level 2 students will be given 2 levels of music to choose from.  Several parts of this music are more advanced than other parts.  We will allow students in this group flexibility to simplify certain parts or have the more challenging original versions.

Please contact us with any questions regarding your eligibility. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
